In the health and social care sector, the moving and handling of people is a regular task, which if not done correctly can cause serious injury to service users and staff.
It is essential that staff are trained on how to do this safely to prevent or minimise the risk of injury.

Poor moving and handling practice can lead to:

Back pain and musculoskeletal disorders, which can lead to inability to work
​

Moving and handling accidents – which can injure both the person being moved and the employee
​

Discomfort and a lack of dignity for the person being moved
​
​
We provide a full day training on People Movers, Moving and Handling for staff with little or no experience, and a half day refresher course for those who have had previous training in People Movers, Moving and Handling People.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

State their obligations and that of their employers with regard to manual handling.
​

Understand the consequences of poor manual handling practice.
​

State the actions to be taken in the event of a manual handling manoeuvre being required within their working environment.
​

Identify the correct manoeuvre for use on a range of different manual handling situations.
​
NB. To ensure the time spent is beneficial to your staff, the manoeuvres taught will be tailored to your training needs. Manoeuvres such as: Floor Manoeuvres, Sitting Manoeuvres, Bed Manoeuvres, Bath Transfers, Car Transfers, Step Manoeuvres & Walking with client.
Course Overview
Target Population: All staff who may be called upon to undertake moving & handling in the course of their duties.

Course Duration:
Half Day: 3 hours
Full Day: 6 Hours
​Certification: Level 2 Award in People Movers, Moving and Handling.
Assessment: Theory assessment via a question paper and demonstration of taught practical skills.
Number of Participants: 12 Maximum
