Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:


  • Understand their own role.

  • Work in ways that have been agreed with their employer.

  • Understand working relationships in health and social care and work in partnership.

  • Agree a personal development plan.

  • Develop their knowledge, skills and understanding.

  • Understand how duty of care contributes to safe practice.

  • Understand support available for addressing dilemmas that may arise about duty of care.

  • Deal with comments, complaints, incidents, errors and near misses.

  • Deal with confrontation and difficult situations.

Course Overview

Target Population:  All staff who may require Person Centred Care Training.


Course Duration:  3 hours.

​Certification:  Level 1 Award in  Understanding your Role, Personal Development & Duty of Care.

Assessment: Knowledge assessment via a question paper.

Number of Participants: 20 Maximum

  • Is based on the compliance requirements placed on trainers by the Health & Safety at Work (Etc.) Act of 1974; Equality Act 2010; Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated code of  practice; Mental Health Act 2007 and Code of Practice; Human  Medicines Regulations 2012; Autism Act; Human Rights Act & the Care Act.


  • Can assist with the knowledge compliance of the Care Certificate Standard 1. 2 & 3.

  • Can assist Health & Social Care Diploma candidates with the various  elements of their learning.
