Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

 

  • Understand the role of the carer when providing personal care.

​

  • Understand incontinence and its control.

​

  • Describe the importance of personal hygiene procedures.

​

  • Understand pressure sores and how they can be avoided.

Course Overview

Target Population:  All staff who may be called upon  to undertake personal care in the course of their duties. 

​

Course Duration:  From 3 hours depending on group size.

 

​Certification:  Level 1 Award in Personal & Pressure Care.

 

Assessment:  Knowledge assessment via a question paper.

​

Number of Participants: 20 Maximum

Care Training:

  • Based on the compliance requirements placed on trainers by the Health & Safety at Work (Etc.) Act of 1974; Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992.

​

  • Based on the requirements placed on employers and employees by the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014, the  Mental Capacity Act 2005, Equality Act 2010, Mental Health Act 2007,  Children Act 1969 and the Care Act 2014. 

 

  • Can assist a variety of QCF candidates with the various elements of their learning.
