Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Understand what epilepsy is and its prevalence in the UK.

Know the cause of epilepsy, the symptoms and how it is diagnosed.

Know what a seizure is and the main types.

Understand how epilepsy is treated.

Have an awareness of the common epilepsy drugs and their side effects.

Understand the importance of people with an epilepsy condition staying safe.

Implement epilepsy awareness measures in the workplace.
Course Overview
Target Population: All staff who may require Epilepsy Awareness Training.
Course Duration: 3 hours
Certification: Level 2 Award in Epilepsy Awareness
Assessment: Knowledge assessment via a question paper.
Number of Participants: 16 Maximum.

Is based on the compliance requirements placed on trainers by the Health & Safety at Work (Etc.) Act of 1974; Equality Act 2010; Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated code of practice; Mental Health Act 2007 and Code of Practice; Human Rights Act; Data Protection Act 2018 together with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); and requirements placed on healthcare employers by the Care Act and CQC Standards.

The National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) Guidelines n the care of those with an epilepsy condition.

Can assist Diploma in Health & Social Care candidates with the various elements of their learning.
