Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Understand the needs and experiences of people with mental health conditions, dementia or learning disabilities.

Understand the importance of promoting positive health and well-being for an individual who may have a mental health condition, dementia or learning disability.

Understand the adjustments which may be necessary in care delivery relating to an individual who may have a mental health condition, dementia or learning disability.

Understand the importance of early detection of mental health conditions, dementia and learning disabilities.
​

Understand legal frameworks, policy and guidelines relating to mental health conditions, dementia and learning disabilities.

Understand the meaning of mental capacity in relation to how care is provided.
Course Overview
Target Population: All staff completing Care Certificate Standard 9.

Course Duration: 6 hours
​
​Certification: Awareness in Mental Health, Dementia & Learning Disabilities.
Assessment: Knowledge assessment via a question paper.

Number of Participants: 20 Maximum

Is based on the compliance requirements placed on trainers by the Human Rights Act 1998; Care Act 2014; the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016; Safeguarding Adults National Framework; Fundamental Standards of Quality & Safety; Mental Health Act (1983) & the Mental Capacity Act (2005).

Can assist with the knowledge compliance of the Care Certificate Standard 9 for Awareness in Mental Health, Dementia & Learning Disabilities.
